“The Rise of Dalyia” A tale of Hardship and Courage.

In a country like Bangladesh, where women empowerment is still a struggling issue, there the rise of a women entrepreneur is a great example of courage. Young entrepreneur Ms.Daliya is a burning example of it. It’s worthy to mention that.Daliya is the first ever new entrepreneur of GSSBL who received the equity fund for the second time. That struggle and tireless march towards her dreams is really a story which makes us to think again. Moving on with a business with the last savings is always a big risk and perusing the own challenges with the limited back up is never an easy task too. She explained that how much tough was it for her to start a business just in a bed room, where she had only a rack to keep the cloths for selling and how the society acts against women to rise.

She was born in Faridapur district, where her parents were struggling to earn their livelihood and moved on Dakshinkhan, Dhaka when. Daliya was just a child. Fighting with the poverty and hardship the family was just living for a day. They are one brother and two sisters. She studied till class nine and could not manage to study more due to the inability of her family to bear the expense of education. Her mother Samsun Nahar has been a member of Grameen Bank since 8 years. Daliya started working in garments factory after she left study and she worked for 5 years, where she learnt some tailoring techniques. But she was inspired by her mother and decided to carry on a business to become an entrepreneur. She started her business in a very small range with her last savings of BDT 30,000 after her marriage at her living room. After two year her capital raised on BDT 1,00,000. On that time she came to know about GSSBL Social Business Fund and in August of 2014.She submitted her business plan to GSSBL and the preoject was approved by Yunus Centre on 23rd Design Lab. So,she received an equity of BDT 50,000 for 1 year. Then she took a shop beside her house with a monthly rent of BDT 3,000 and appointed an artishan. She started the business with a new enthusiasm. As she noticed that her business is blooming with high sales growth then she decided to increase the artisan number. She appointed an artisan who was expert in pattern making. The artisan used to work with Daliya and she also trained Daliya about various pattern making techniques. Now she has 3 artisans in her shop. She already grabbed a big market and she has a big amount of fixed customers. Her business gained the net profit of BDT 1, 26,000 at last year. The most charming thing is that, she already completely paid up the 1st equity with the transfer fee of BDT 60,000 within 1 year and   brought the investors equity. Now her capital is BDT 2, 16,000. It’s a privilege of GSSBL to have such entrepreneur like Daliya. Honoring on her efforts and success GSSBL gave a further equity of BDT 1,50,000 to for expanding her business, as she requested. Daliya is undoubtedly is a role model for the new entrepreneurs. She is not only helping herself and family but she is also helping her society by creating employments. Now she is very happy with her business and really grateful to GSSBL and Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
